David Ryle

David Ryle

Much of Ryle's work reminds me of Nick Meek's from composition of shot and choice of location, to the similar 'bleached out' effect.

However, Ryle explores other dimensions in both mood and content and I think his work has a more atmospheric feel to it, which differentiates his work from Meek's. In particular, much of his 'places' work posseses a serene and calm quality, which is all created through setting, use of tones, the stillness and lack of presence within the pictures.

Ryle is also developing his portraiture work.
