People seem to forget 'Go Forth' is a campaign for non-profit organisations which help change the world and lives of others, sponsored by Levis. But, no doubt they would be criticised for being insensitive and seen to be encouraging youth rebellion and gangster behaviour if they continued to run the campaign.

Paul explores how the people that surround us everyday shape who we are and how, even though we may have little or no interaction with them, their presence is integral to our existence:

'Where we live plays a big part in defining who we are. It's not just about the architecture of the place, but the people who live around us...they all help to affirm our shared sense of existence and identity.'

The portraits are of people who live in Paul's village. This beardy bloke's (Bazil) face tells a story or two! I'm sure Paul would be delighted to talk to you if you want to know more.

Some of the images will be on show at Cannes this year. What an achievement!

MINIVEGAS / Nexus Interactive Arts decided to make an "A" from CR's prolific online output. We felt that its form should be implied, discernable by its physical influence on elements from CR's blog and twitter content. Some of our early efforts were a little abstract, but we settled for wrapping thousands of strips of tape in the loose shape of the "A". The strips would contain words and pictures from the blog. Using recent blog activity doesn't cut it for an annual, so with "a little wget magic", we slurped every article and image from the last year. We got 10,000 unique proper names and places, hashtags and usernames, and about another 5,000 pictures. That's a lot, even for six images, so the number of comments on a blog post became a metric for how "big" a story and its content ended up in the final image (like a "tag cloud"). To add some dynamics, we ran the scene as a cloth simulation to blow our strips around a bit. Exploding the letter is fun, though in the end the shapes looked a bit messy so we toned that down a bit. Final snapshots of strips in motion were exported for a high-quality render.

The acts include jumping out of windows, falling through glass and being set on fire, producing a series of dramatic and visually striking images captured by photographer Cass Bird. The campaign depicts the Wrangler person well - fearless, he takes risks, lives for the moment and acts on instinct.

MIT Media Lab Identity

Creative Floor Nightout 001 - Glug - Things to make and do

Last night we went to Glug at Cargo.

The presenters came from a wide range of specialisms from traditional craft to digital media.

Among them I find the talk by Mudlark the most interesting. Which is about a new approach into developing social games. The principal surrounds how narrative are being generated and captured using existing platforms (yet taken for granted) like Oyster card.

A good example is a game they developed called Chromaroma, which captures stories from daily commuting experiences:

They also shared point of views about Gamification. In case you missed the talk shared few weeks ago, games like Chromaroma had applied concepts like Gamification to enhance user engagement.

Other highlights include a Creative Review talk about their film making projects as well as a free letter press poster made by Mr Smith.

Upstairs there is a TRON: Legacy light show inspired by ‘The Grid’ from the film. Created using projection mapping technology, the QEH comes to life in unison with snippets of the Daft Punk soundtrack to create an immersive experience. Downstairs you’ll find a re-creation of Flynn’s Arcade – with original TRON arcade game; a Light Cycle replica, the TRON: Evolution video game and a bank of HP printers to print the photos you take of your time at the event. Flynn's Arcade opens at 1300, the lightshow opens at 1700 – both run until 2100 - 02.12.10

He rather bizarrely taught himself Photoshop in his spare time while gaining a degree in physics at Imperial College in London.
